Book Blogger Hop: Halloween Edition! | 2/11

Book Blogger Hop

This week’s question:

Halloween Edition: You can go trick or treating with any fictional character (book or film). Who would you go with?

My answer:

For a book character, I really want to go trick or treating with Scarlet from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa MeyerShe’s just so badass and awesome, I feel like we would be good friends.

As for film characters, I’m definitely going trick or treating with Schmidt and Jenko from 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump StreetBecause hello? Channing Tatum! Also, they’re hilarious and I just want to spend some time with them both.

Who would you go trick or treating with? 😊

Book Haul

Hello everyone,

My mother usually keeps me from splurging on books whenever I go to the book store. She was out of town the other week and this happened:

……………………… I regret nothing XD

I went to the bookstore twice and bought 13 books. I don’t know what a lot of them are about, but they were recommended by people whose opinions I trust.

I bought:

These Broken Stars

by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spoone

Image

Can we just take a moment and talk about how breathtakingly beautiful the cover is? Sigh, it’s so gorgeous. I admit I picked up this book partially because of the cover, but I heard a lot of people saying good things about it and I was like why not?  I got back home and I did a bit of research, you can click here to read the synopsis.

So yeah that sounds really exciting like Titanic/Blue Lagoon but IN SPACE!! I’m really looking forward to reading it.

Scarlet and Cress

by Marissa Meyer

Scarlet and Cress are the second and third books in the Lunar Chronicles. The first book, Cinder, was sold out in my bookstore so I had to get the eBook version. I have read all three books in LESS THAN A WEEK, that’s how good this series was. They are basically futuristic fairytale retellings. I know most of you are rolling your eyes over ‘Fairytale retellings’ but don’t be fooled! It’s not the fairytale we know, it ‘s full of twists, yet it has these subtle details that make you go “ooohhhh I see what you did there 😉“.

The first book is Cinder and it’s about Cinderella and she’s like half robot half human. I was cringing when I started reading but I had to keep in mind that she’s still human and she still has feelings. The second book is Scarlet and it is about Little Red Riding Hood, Scarlet is so badass and I love her, and Wolf is just *sigh*. The third book, Cress, is about Rapunzel and SHE’S STUCK IN A SATELLITE ORBITING EARTH which is so so cool. Cress was definitely my favourite book of the series. The fourth book is called Winter, it’s about Snow White and its gonna be published on Nov. 10th 2015, definitely my most anticipated book of 2015 so far.

I bought this book because everyone and I mean EVERYONE recommends Rainbow Rowell’s books. I know nothing about it and I love going into a book without knowing anything about it. If you want to know what’s it about you can click here.

Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children

by Ransom Riggs

Okay so I thought long and hard when I first heard of this book if I should buy it or not, as I have only read one creepy/scary novel before and I didn’t sleep the night I finished the book, and it was a CHILDREN’S BOOK. So yeah… I’m kind of a baby when it comes to scary things. JesseTheReader from Youtube recommends this book to everyone, and he says that it’s his favourite book, and I was like you know what? I’m gonna challenge myself and read this book. When I saw it at the bookstore I flipped through the pages and i saw this:

I slammed the book shut and chucked it in my basket, because I knew that if I didn’t I’m gonna chicken out and put it back on the shelf XD. I also did not buy the sequel, Hollow City, which was sitting right next to it on the shelf, I do, however, have it on my birthday book wishlist in hopes that somebody braver than I am will get it for me haha. You can check the synopsis here.

Panic

by Lauren Oliver

The first thing I noticed when I picked up this book was the texture of the cover, it feels really weird. My sister picked it up and said “ooh it feels like fabric” I still don’t know how I feel about it though haha. I am currently reading this book and so far I think it’s good. It’s a bit too early to judge the entire book though. I knew what the story was about before i even bought this book. It’s set in the town of Carp, New York, a really boring town where nothing happens. The kids there created a series of challenges that are set over the summer time and it is called Panic. The challenges are very terrifying and dangerous, and you can die from them. You get a prize of around $50,000 if you win, which will hopefully get whoever wins miles away from Carp. If this interests you can click here to know more about it.

The Raven Boys and The Dream Thieves

by Maggie Stiefvater

Image

The Raven Boys and The Dream Thieves are the first and second books in The Raven Cycle. I remember reading about The Raven Boys in the bookstore and thinking hmm.. this is interesting, due to my poor memory abilities I completely forgot what It’s about haha. I’m glad though, as I said, I love going into books without knowing anything about them. You can click here to read the synopsis if you’re interested.

PS. The Raven Boys looks really pretty naked haha, if you look closely you can see some sort of carving which I’m assuming means something in the book.

Alienated

by Melissa Landers

So I didn’t really see this book that much around the internet. I bought it because my best friend, Leenah, read it and recommended it to me, I trust her opinion very much so i bought it. From what I understood, it’s this whole exchange program with another planet that has beings with almost identical DNA to humans, and a girl from Earth falls in love with a guy from this other planet. here is a much better explanation haha. Oh it also looks boring naked :/.

Under The Never Sky

by Veronica Rossi

Image

When I put this in my basket I didn’t know what it was about, I just checked the rating on Goodreads and thought it was pretty good. I found out a couple of days ago that it’s a trilogy so I have the second and third books on my birthday book wishlist. I still don’t know much about this book but you can find out here.

Eleanor & Park

by Rainbow Rowell

Image

I picked up Eleanor & Park purely because it was a Rainbow Rowell book. I started reading it after the Lunar Chronicles in order to get myself out of the mourning period I put myself into. I started at night and finished it at noon, that’s how good it was. I loved every part of this book except for maybe the ending, I wish we got a few more chapters after the end. Eleanor & Park is basically about a couple of young misfits falling in love. I said ‘Awwwww’ out loud probably 8543657843 times haha. Here is the synopsis and I highly recommend you check it out.

Shatter Me and Unravel Me

by Tahereh Mafi

This, again, was bought because of Leenah’s recommendation. I couldn’t find the third book in my bookstore so I added that to my birthday book wishlist as well. If you want to check out the synopsis you can click here. From what I read it looks pretty interesting, so I’m really excited to read more about it.

That was everything I bought in the last two weeks. I am very excited to read all of these books, I also hope my mom doesn’t ever read this post, mom if you’re reading please don’t get mad I’m sorry xx. haha.

I hope you liked my first ever post on this blog and if you did don’t hesitate to show me some love. I also really would appreciate some constructive criticism. Please keep in mind that English is not my first language so bear with me if I make any mistakes.
